‘…he would rise early in the morning, and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.’ – Job 1:5 (NKJV)
The intercession of a father refers to a father praying on behalf of his children, seeking God’s favour and protection for them. This act of intercession is seen as a reflection of a father’s love, concern, and responsibility for his family’s well-being.
Fathers are Intercessors:
Fathers are natural intercessors for their children, reflecting a divine order where parents are stewards of God’s grace and blessing. Fathers offer covering and protection to their children.
- The example of Job as a godly parent demonstrated his deep concern for his children’s spiritual well-being.
- He watched their conduct and lifestyle, praying they would be kept from evil and experience God’s blessing and salvation.
- His intercession exemplifies a father whose heart is turned to his children by devoting the spiritual time and attention necessary to keep them from a life of sin.
- A father’s intercession demonstrates that he understands his role extends beyond physical provision and guidance to include praying for God’s blessing and protection for his family.
- Fathers must be willing to prostrate themselves before Jesus, crying out for the spiritual health of their children, knowing that Jesus not only hears but also answers.
Fathers, will you take time this week to intercede for your children, and like Job, do it consistently?
